In this Workshop you will learn why current ZK Rollups aren't able to scale, and the work that's being made to build more scalable ZK L2's.

Polygon is the leading platform for Ethereum scaling and infrastructure development. Its growing suite of products offers developers easy access to all major scaling and infrastructure solutions: L2 solutions (ZK Rollups and Optimistic Rollups), sidechains, hybrid solutions, stand-alone and enterprise chains, data availability solutions, and more. Polygon’s scaling solutions have seen widespread adoption with 3000+ applications hosted, 1B+ total transactions processed, ~100M+ unique user addresses, and $5B+ in assets secured.

Polygon is focused on Zero-Knowledge (ZK) cryptography as the end game for blockchain scaling. We have committed $1B from the Polygon treasury to this effort, and we outlined our plans in our ZK Thesis.
We have already made several major steps toward building this exciting ZK future. The first was the merger with Hermez Network (now Polygon Hermez) and the announcement of zkEVM, a ZK-friendly EVM implementation. This was followed by the announcements of Polygon Miden, a STARK-based, Ethereum-compatible rollup, and Polygon Nightfall, a privacy-focused rollup built in collaboration with EY. Now we are excited to follow through with our commitment and take a major lead in this exciting field with the announcement of Polygon Zero.

Polygon Miden will be a STARK-based ZK Rollup. ZK Rollups are very promising solutions but their main drawback is that it is hard for them to support arbitrary logic and transactions, including those of the EVM (Ethereum Virtual Machine). Polygon Miden solves this challenge using its core component - Miden VM, a STARK-based virtual machine.

Our latest incorporation is Mir, a startup building groundbreaking ZK tech, that is joining the Polygon family in a $400M* deal. Mir gathered a team of talented cryptographers and engineers, and after almost two years of work developed the world’s fastest ZK scaling technology. The Mir team is now joining Polygon in order to utilize this groundbreaking technology and build our new project - Polygon Zero, a highly-scalable, Ethereum-compatible ZK Rollup.

If you're an Ethereum Developer, you're already a Polygon developer! Leverage Polygon’s fast and secure txns for your dApp, get started here.

This Workshop will be dictated by Jordi Baylina
Jordi is one of the strongest Solidity developers in the world and a high impact contributor in the Ethereum community. He leads the technical development of the Polygon Hermez zkRollup and is currently working on the implementation of the zkEVM.
He is the co-founder of the White Hat Group, which played a major role in rescuing funds from TheDAO and Parity Multisig hacks. He’s the author of the MiniMe token contract, the elliptic curves Solidity library, as well as numerous other established contracts in the Ethereum space.
Jordi is also a well-respected auditor, most notably leading teams to audit the MakerDAO Stable Coin system and Aragon project. Jordi is the co-founder of the donation platform Giveth, DAppNode, Iden3 and most recently, Polygon Hermez.
