Brian Hedstrom is an entrepreneur, communications architect, Co-founder and CEO of Cataworx, and owner/principal at OAM Technology Consulting LLC. Brian provides independent consulting services to industries including telecommunications and cable in the areas of service orchestration and management, network management, operations, Software Defined Networking, business process and workflow management, information and data modeling, OSS/BSS interface definitions, standards and specification development, back-office automation and API design.

Brian has over 20 years of experience in telecom software architecture, design and development. He’s spent over 15 years focusing on communication network and service management, including leading and participating in standards development groups within CableLabs, SCTE, MEF, TM Forum, Open-O/ONAP, ONUG and IETF.

Brian has over 10 years experience in architecture and design of network and service management for both residential and business services for cable operators. Through his 8 years involvement in the MEF, Brian was instrumental in driving management and operations for Carrier Ethernet services including technical leadership for the launch and growth of the Operations Committee. He was a significant contributor and project lead for many of the MEF projects focused on Lifecycle Service Orchestration (LSO). He’s currently the Denver OpenDaylight User Group moderator. Through this work, Brian has lead or contributed to the development of many telecommunication and cable network standards.

Brian holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering from the University of Wyoming and a Master’s degree in Telecommunications from the University of Colorado-Boulder. His Master Degree focus was on next generation configuration management of DOCSIS cable networks.
